Job Description

IWI’s Grant Writer is responsible for developing and writing grant proposals to grant-making organizations and will persuasively communicate IWI’s mission and programmes to potential funders. The Grant Writer will assemble and submit grant requests, establish and maintain personal contact and relationships with granter contacts, conduct prospect research, and maintain a calendar of submissions and other deadlines.

Duties

You will prepare grant proposals, beginning by performing research and collaborating with prospect researchers. To develop their proposals, grant writers familiarise themselves with IWI's programmes, goals and financial needs. After compiling all the information needed, you will compose and forward proposals to supervisor for approval.

Key Deliverables: Responsibilities

  • • Conduct the full range of activities required to prepare, submit, and manage grant proposals to foundation and corporate sources
  • • Evaluate prospects for corporate and foundation grants
  • • Comply with all grant reporting as required by foundation/corporate donors
  • • Maintain current records in database and in paper files, including grant tracking and reporting
  • • Work with Deputy Director of Fundraising to provide input for all written institutional materials (including Annual Report)
  • • Assist with other fundraising projects as requested

Qualifications:

  • • Minimum of two years’ experience with grant writing
  • • Previous experience with non-profit fundraising
  • • Experience working in deadline-driven environments
  • • Able to work well in a team environment, handle multiple assignments and meet deadlines
