Job Description

The Board of Governors of The Lady Eleanor Holles School (“LEH”) is actively seeking a new member with an established background in finance.

What will you be doing?

As a Governor with responsibility for overseeing finance within the School, key responsibilities would include working as part of the Finance Committee in their role in:

  • reviewing the fee policy of the School.
  • reviewing the annual accounts of the School and its subsidiaries.
  • consideration of the appointment of the auditor.
  • approval of the annual budget of the School and recommending it to the Board.
  • reviewing the management accounts and monitoring financial performance against budget.
  • having oversight of School’s pension arrangements.
  • approving any expenditure outside the agreed budget of the School (subject to agreed provisos in place).
  • consideration of any other issues, which could materially impact on the financial position of the School.

What are we looking for?

As a Governor, you will need strategic vision and to be willing to work collaboratively with the rest of the Board and relevant Committee members accordingly, and have some senior management experience. Most of all, you need commitment and enthusiasm to support the School in furthering its aims.

Each year, you will be expected to attend four Board meetings and four Finance Committee Meetings and one Strategy Meeting (full day).  We are keen for applications from individuals who would have the capacity and flexibility to be involved more closely and sit on working parties for special projects from time to time.

Involvement is almost exclusively required during term time and concentrated around the dates of meetings, whether part of the recurring meetings schedule or any specific projects from time to time.

You will also be encouraged to attend as many other School events as you are able.
