Job Description

Smart School Councils is a teacher-led charity aiming to help every child engage and lead change in their world through democracy.

  • Support, challenge and advise on the charity’s plans, progress and staff.

  • Ensure that charity expenditure provides value for money and is spent appropriately.

  • Respect the boundaries between the role of a trustee and the day to day running of the organisation.

  • Help to build the profile of the charity to generate more impact across more schools.

  • Support the charity to offer a clear and compelling offer to schools.

  • Attend four trustee meetings a year, serving a term of at least three years. This is renewable once, so the maximum term is six consecutive years.

  • Maintain confidentiality of any sensitive information.

  • Setting the mission, vision, strategy, targets and high-level policies for the organisation.

  • Monitoring the performance of the organisation against this, and ensuring it meets all legal and regulatory requirements. Monitoring the financial stability of the organisation.
