Job Description
Fundraising trustee needed for Swindon-based youth charity.
About Inner Flame
We are specialists in recognising and developing the potential in people aged 16-25, helping them to take control of their lives and pursue their goals. We do this through training, mentoring and challenging experiences. We deliver the Prince's Trust Team Programme in Swindon. We are developing a new programme to address mental health issues, starting with anxiety.
About the role
We are seeking a Fundraising Trustee with the experience, energy and enthusiasm to build our voluntary income, particularly through grants and events, to generate both core and project funding. We are looking to expand our services and help more young people. You will support the planning and marketing of our annual Awards and fundraising dinner, drawing on your network of local contacts, oversee grant applications, and identify further opportunities to grow our income, such as corporate sponsorship.
One part-time staff member has responsibility for fundraising and marketing, supported and led by this new trustee role. We are working to reduce our dependency upon Education & Skills funding; voluntary and grant income has risen from 15% to 40% of income over the past 2 years.
Person specification
You will have experience in fundraising (grants and/or events), and in working in / with businesses.
You are likely to be focused on targets and outcomes, and a supportive leader. We hope that you will share our core values: challenge, accomplishment, personal development, giving and fun.
You will also ideally have a good network of contacts in our local area.
What difference will you make?
We have had a challenging 18 months, and are now looking to rebuild our resources, our income and impact by at least 50%. Your aim will be to help us raise at least £50,000 in voluntary income per annum.
What’s in it for the volunteer?
We have reviewed our business plans, and are renewing our trustee board. You can have a significant influence over our strategy going forward, particularly in fundraising and marketing. There is also an opportunity for one of our new trustees to become Chair, depending on their skills, interests and time commitment.
Time commitment
Trustee meetings happen in Swindon on a weekday evening, approximately 6 times per year. Trustees are expected to attend at least 4 of these. There is usually one Strategy Day each year. Time commitment beyond that is at your discretion.
