The Suffolk Archaeological Recording Foundation is looking for founding Trustees to establish it as a new charity to help record Suffolk’s amazing archaeology. The Foundation is seeking to appoint its first Board of Trustees and is inviting expressions of interest from people with a wide range of professional skills and experience.
The Foundation will fundraise to provide grants to the archaeological service and other institutions, organisations and community groups that meet its aims, primarily to record finds and sites discovered by the public. Likely sources of fundraising include grant making trusts, individual giving, and the provision of Gift Aid on donations. You, as a trustee of the Foundation will provide leadership and advice for both the acquisition of this funding and its allocation.
If you would like to be involved in the future development of this Foundation and help protect, record, and promote Suffolk’s fascinating past we would love to hear from you.
We are looking for individuals with a passion for heritage, but who may not work in the sector. Strong professional and personal networks and evidential business acumen would be welcomed, and experience of fundraising and accounting particularly valued. Previous experience in the charitable sector is desirable but not essential.
Appointments to the Board will be made for an initial term of three years. The role is unpaid and likely to require a time commitment of around 6 days per year. General meetings will be held during the working day at least 4 times per year. Trustees will also be asked to assist with relevant matters between meetings as needed and agreed.
For more information and an informal conversation about the roles please phone Faye Minter on 01284 741 228
