    Reach Volunteering

Reach Volunteering are supporting Voices with the recruitment of a Finance Trustee to join their board. Voices is a Bath based charity founded by women who have experienced Domestic Abuse. They provide peer support and recovery programmes specifically for women who are experiencing or have experienced Domestic Abuse. The Finance Trustee will support their staff and contracted professional accountants, provide governance and scrutiny and provide advice and guidance on business strategy and decision making to help the charity develop and expand its work in a sustainable way. The successful candidate will play a key role in oversight and advising the charity around the development of sustainable funding strategy and opportunities for income diversification.

What are we looking for

Voices are looking for someone with passion, experience and expertise who really wants to help them make a difference to the lives of those they support. The ideal candidate will be able to provide strategic financial oversight as well as show interest in their innovative ventures. It is a very interesting time for the charity as they begin a new project of moving to new premises. The role would particularly suit a finance specialist who also has a background in business or a keen interest in entrepreneurship. Voices are fully committed to increasing the diversity of their Board as having a more diverse Board will help the charity to better understand the needs of the communities they serve. This role would be suited to someone without any previous board experience and a full induction will be provided. Voices are also keen to hear from people that do not come from a finance background but share their passion and feel they would have something to offer the board.

Time commitment

The Board meets every quarter (meetings last 2-3 hours) and the Finance Sub-Committee meets every quarter c. 3 weeks before each Trustee meeting.  In addition to attending board meetings (conducted via Zoom if not in person), the Treasurer Trustee should expect to spend about 1 day per month on the work involved in this role, carried out either at home or at Voices’ premises.

How to apply

The Reach Volunteering TrusteeWorks team are supporting Voices with their recruitment. Please email your CV or Linkedin Profile, along with a supporting statement stating why you wish to work for the organisation, how your skills would add value to the board and any other relevant information. For an informal chat with the charity please contact the TrusteeWorks team who will be able to arrange this.
