Job Description

VACANCY FOR FINANCE TRUSTEE

Cottingley Community Centre is a vibrant hub of the community and is a registered charity.  We offer a safe and supportive place for people of all ages to meet and socialise together.  We have a café providing low cost meals and offer advice and services such as counselling and a food bank etc for those in need. 

We need an energetic and passionate Trustee with skills in finance to join our Management Team.  Whether you are an experienced trustee or wanting to take your first steps at Board Level, we want to hear from you.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

All duties and responsibilities of a charity trustee.  To advise, govern, oversee policy and direction and assist with the leadership and general promotion of Cottingley Community Centre so as to support the organisation’s charitable objectives

 

MAIN DUTIES                                                                                                                                          Accounting:

To be the Signatory and administrator on the bank account                                                                      

To review and monitor the accounting function carried out by staff                                                                  

To liaise with an Independent Examiner

Compliance:

To review quarterley VAT returns                                                                                                                      To ensure pension regulation compliance 

To complete annual update at Companies House                                                                                            

To complete annual return and accounts submission to Charity Commission                                                   

To review and advise staff on appropriate financial procedures                                                                       

To submit information and attend review meetings to SIB as and when required

General:

Retirement and rotation of Trustees                                                                                                                         To support staff with more complex/technical finance issues as required

Additional Duties   

Such duties could be undertaken by a suitably trained member of staff or an external professional person at a fee, these are listed below:

To prepare annual budget and cashflow forecast                                                                                          

To prepare monthly management accounts                                                                                                        

To prepare the annual report and financial statements                                                                               

To monitor credit card usage and download monthly statements                                                                      

To submit quarterly VAT returns                                                                                                                                  To sumit monthly information to NEST pension scheme                                                                                

To prepare Corporation Tax Returns and submit when required                                                                         

To deal with lease queries and rent reviews for Offices, Mews, Respite Care Home and Medical Centre                                

To deal with car park lease issues

 Skills and Knowledge:

Working knowledge of Sage Accounting and Payroll software                                                                      

Working knowledge of Charities Accounting and Reporting requirements                                                  

Working knowledge of Charity and Company Law                                                                                 

Working knowledge of VAT including partial exemption rules and Capital Goods Scheme                      

Working knowledge of pay and pension regulations                                                                                     

Working knowledge of Corporation Tax Return completion
