Job Description

About Us

Hulme Community Garden Centre (HCGC) opened its doors back in 2000, converting an area of scrubland into a public green space to encourage healthy living through gardening and sustainable food growing.

People grow here as much as the plants. We run an on-site activity programme with daily sessions and volunteer opportunities providing meaningful experiences to a wide range of people.

We’re a one stop destination for everything our community needs to make beautiful, wildlife friendly natural spaces, stocking everything from trees to tiny alpines. Over the last 20 years we've seen the Centre thrive. Each year we welcome over well ten thousand people through our doors, as well as the diverse array of wildlife that calls the centre home.

The position is the ideal opportunity for individuals that are looking for a business that values local community benefit, with a real commitment to environmental protection and sustainability.

The Opportunity

The HCGC Board is seeking a new trustee with experience in Accounting who will provide oversight for all financial matters on behalf of the Board.

The role could be either a full trustee role or an adviser to the Board.

In partnership with the Centre Manager and trustees you would help ensure financial stability and the effective and efficient operation of HCGC and ensure fundraising is maximised in parallel to costs being managed in order that cost:income ratios and charity reserves are maintained at healthy levels.

You would also help ensure governance is of the highest standard and leading practice is followed, especially to ensure the financial affairs of the organisation are conducted within legal requirements, accounting conventions and good practice.

To register your interest, get further information or to talk to one of our existing trustees, contact the Centre Manager Gianetta Grainger at gianetta@hulmegardencentre.org.uk
