    Swansea Asylum Seekers Support (SASS)

Join the board of trustees of a small, local grassroots charity with 20 years of experience supporting asylum-seekers, now seeking to professionalize and grow in order to meet increasing and more complex challenges. The charity has multiple funding streams across multiple projects. Many grants are short-term and the charity must juggle funds to maintain services. Turnover is under £80K, with 1.2FTE workers. We are looking to recruit new trustees with professional expertise, to help us grow by securing (a) major grant(s). You will make an essential contribution to fund-raising, grant applications, reporting to funders, and financial planning. An ability to draw up reports and scenarios and communicate them clearly to people with no financial expertise and sometimes limited English, is essential. You will present financial reports and scenarios quarterly to the board and annually to the members. An ability to contribute to personnel management and/or governance would be an advantage, as would a willingness to engage in partnership working in the asylum/refugee/migration sector in Wales. Our website is www.sass.wales and we are reg'd charity 1175186. The position could be permanent but an offer to support us for 2 years or more would be welcome, to help us transition to being bigger, stronger, and more sustainable. We have a monthly meeting, usually on a weekday early evening.
