Wiltshire College and University Centre
Non-remunerated / expenses paid
Would you like to contribute to the development of further education and training and to meeting the needs of Students and Employers across Wiltshire?
Wiltshire College and University Centre has a clear mission to be a vital player in Wiltshire’s economic growth, raising skills and attainment, delivering excellence and innovation and inspiring people to achieve. Playing a significant role for the county’s growing population, the college is critical to delivering the Post 16 education and skills agenda and thus the economic success of the region. We offer a diverse range of full-time, part-time and university level courses across our main campuses in Chippenham, Trowbridge, Salisbury and Lackham together with a wide and growing range of apprenticeships. With a turnover in excess of £35 million and recent re-development of our facilities, the college is in prime position to serve our 12,000 students and more.
We are now seeking a new Governor with a finance background to join the College Corporation (Governing Body) which is crucial to the management, development and success of the college. The Corporation makes an important contribution to the life of the college and, therefore, to the students by ensuring that the vision and strategy are appropriate and that the college is well run by our Executive Team.
We are seeking individuals who are strategic, influential and commercially astute and who can support us on the next part of our journey, through and post the Covid-19 pandemic. Sound judgement, strong interpersonal skills and independence of thought will be essential and you will be committed to our highest priority of putting students at the heart of all we do. You will be a fully qualified accountant with the ability to demonstrate a record of accomplishment shaping the financial strategy and direction of organisations at senior level, preferably within the private sector, and you will have an affinity with the local area. You are not required to have previous Governor experience as you will benefit from a well-supported induction and training programme.
