Haven House Children's Hospice is seeking two new members for its Finance & Resources ("F&R") Committee, one of whom will ideally join the main Board and assume the role of Treasurer when the current encumbent retires in 2020/1.
The hospice (a registered charity) provides a wide range of support for seriously ill children and their families across NE London as well as West Essex and East Herts. Strong growth in income from under £2m to £4m pa over the last 6 years has enabled the charity to expand its services and numbers supported, last year reaching 379 children and young people. Currently in the last year of its 5 year strategy, this is an exciting time to be involved in setting the future growth and direction of the organisation to ensure it is best able to respond to growing needs.
The role of the F&R Committee and its members is to scrutinise the charity's budget and performance against financial objectives, working with the Director of Finance and CEO to oversee risk management, financial controls and investments, as well as ensuring best use of staff, volunteers and other resources.
Our ideal F&R member will have significant finance/accounting experience gained from working at a senior level in private, public or voluntary sectors - and ideally be CCAB qualified. He/she will have experience in risk management, familiarity with non-executive roles and be able to question/challenge appropriately whilst contributing financial advice at a strategic level. A commitment to the cause and values of the charity will also be key.
F&R meets 4-6 times pa and timings can be flexible depending on members' commitments. The role is unpaid though will receive expenses.
