Job Description

FE College Governor  - Financially qualified

Halesowen College is a successful Further Education College in the West Midlands.  An inclusive College, we address education and training predominantly, but not limited to 16-19 year old students.

All FE Boards require financially qualified governors and we are recruiting to a current vacancy in this field.

The role is a rewarding one, whereby the Corporation lead on strategy and monitor quality and performance, to best enable students to succeed and progress.

The College was last rated Good by Ofsted and continues to be assessed as financially outstanding.

The Corporation operates a committee system.  All committees meet once a term and there are five board meetings across each annual calendar/cycle. This role would include membership of the Finance and General Purposes or the Audit Committee, in addition to the main board.

Meetings are predominantly conducted in the evening.

While particular skills are sought, no governor is appointed to act in their professional capacity and governance remains a collective decision making responsibility.

All governors are provided with induction, training and support to enable them to be effective in the role and understand the parameters within which governance operates.

The College is moving into a new phase and welcomes applications from financially qualified individuals.

Halesowen College is also an accredited Leader in Diversity.  As an equal-opportunities employer we welcome applications from all groups of society including those who are underrepresented.

Applications are invited by providing a brief curriculum vitae and covering email. If invited to attend an interview, this would be conducted by members of the Search and Governance Committee.

Further information can be accessed through Jennifer Sunter, Clerk to the Corporation. Email address provided.
