Job Description

JOB DESCRIPTION The Lead is a subsidiary of IWI which is an online news source e-zine which focuses on the human rights of women. Therefore, we are seeking an Editor-in-Chief who will not only help The Lead soar, but will also manage our news team. The Editor-in-Chief will oversee news writers and editors, and will ensure each article is released on time. Reporting to the Publisher, the Editor-inChief will partner closely with the Publisher to develop The Lead’s future growth in providing informative news and educating our audience on the ever-increasing challenges faced by women globally. PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES ▪ Oversee management of writers, hiring and terminating as needed and necessary ▪ Supervise editors with proofreading of documents and reporting errors, and incorrect/outdated information ▪ Work collaboratively and actively with teams to ensure a spirit of collegiality, civility, and unity ▪ Coordinate knowledge dissemination, reporting, and communications to The Lead’s audience ▪ Spearhead brain storming sessions regarding publication content ▪ Provide regular feedback to editors and writers on how to improve their work ▪ Excellent verbal as well as written communicating skills ▪ Expert listening skills and ability to interact with people effectively ▪ Knowledge about quality control analysis ▪ Effective judgment and decision making skills ▪ Expert in managing time and completing the given task within the decided time frame ▪ Expert knowledge about communication and mass media ▪ Ability to tolerate stress and work efficiently even under pressure ▪ Excellent leadership qualities REQUIREMENTS ▪ London based preferred but not necessary ▪ 4+ years in editorial role within a print or online news source ▪ Success in roles requiring execution of multiple tasks while responding to multiple priorities, as well as attention to detail ▪ Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with a wide array of people – junior and senior, for-profit and non-profit, and from diverse backgrounds ▪ Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills are essential ▪ Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritise work ▪ Excellent written and verbal communication skills ▪ Proficiency in English ▪ Develop various stories and content ideas by considering the audience appeal ▪ Make use of various software applications to check the articles ▪ Make sure that the rules of print media are followed
