Developing a Scout Group requires volunteers who can organise and work together to make things happen in a community. If you are a person who can help keep people motivated, on track and provide direction while working in partnership with the Group Scout Leader this role may be for you.
The Group Chairman helps a Scout Group by leading the Group Executive in partnership with the Group scout Leader in accordance with Scout Association rules. The Chairman provides direction ensuring the Group is developed while maintaining good governance with the committee of records, finances and health and safety; the Chairman is a trustee of the Group approved in the appointment at the Group AGM by the Group Council.
Most Group committees usually meet on a quarterly basis, and request reports and papers to be circulated approximately 7 days in advance. Attendance at the meeting allows for discussions and explanation so all committee members understand the Group's position and actions can be carried forward.
It is a rewarding role, allowing you to support the growth and development of young people and other adults volunteering.
