Role Description 

Bright Futures UK (BFUK), the first and only charity whose purpose is to provide support to young people who have been forced to take time out of education as a result of illness. We offer support to young people of all educational ages who suffer from long term illness whether it be a mental health or physical condition. 

As the only organisation working in a space that affects around half a million young people each year, we have a responsibility to our beneficiaries and the wider community to continuously raise the standard of our service. 

By joining Bright Futures UK’s Advisory board as our Corporate Liaison Advisor, your role will be to advise and support Bright Futures UK with all aspects of our corporate partnership operations. This will include providing guidance on building and maintaining corporate engagements.  

Responsibilities 

  • Mentor & Support the development of an appropriate corporate fundraising operations. 

  • Support senior management to ensure income generation targets are achieved. 

  • Contribute specific knowledge and expertise of corporate fundraising techniques and operations, to ensure that our activity is realistic and effective. 

  • Make introductions where necessary.  

  • Attend monthly Advisory Board meetings. 

 

External Relations 

  • Act as an ambassador for the cause and charity. 

  • Use existing relationships, for example with trusts and foundations, to add value to Bright Futures UK corporate fundraising income 

 

Person Specification 

Knowledge and experience: 

  • Strategic and operational senior corporate fundraising/income-generation experience and achievements. 

  • An understanding of the UK charity sector, good governance, Charity Commission, Companies House requirements, relevant legislations and statutory requirements. 

  • An understanding of the challenges facing small to medium UK charities in maximising income streams & donor cultivation. 

Skills and abilities: 

  • Excellent networking skills, influencing and communication skills. 

  • Senior corporate funding operational knowledge. 

  • Ability to analyse risks and opportunities and take a balanced approach to both. 

  • Flexible and collaborative in your approach while retaining a clear vision of what you want to achieve. 

  • The ability to work collaboratively and constructively as a member of the Advocacy board. 

 

The Advisory Board’s purpose:  

BF’s Advisory Board is a volunteer group formed to give advice and support to the board of Trustees; employees and volunteers. Our purpose is to ensure that the strategic plan is delivered within the day to day operations. This is a home-based role.
