Job Description

We are looking for a volunteer who'd like to take on the role of club treasurer at a Preston Park Youth Cycle Club in Brighton, about 1hr per week.
Some background to the club: We teach 8-16 year olds a variety of bike handling and racing skills through fun based activities. Within our coached sessions fitness levels, motor skills, balance and coordination are improved, while the children's mental health and general wellbeing benefit from the enjoyment of outdoor games and activities. For our younger members, it’s all about having fun and being active; for older teenage members it becomes more about racing. Some riders go onto professional racing careers, others continue with local/amateur racing and some have gone into sustainable transport careers! But what’s most important is that most just continue to enjoy riding bicycles and remain active travellers into adulthood.
More on the club at
We are affiliated with British Cycling and have achieved Go-Ride club status meaning that all coaches hold a British Cycling qualification and are DBS-checked. We are also accredited by Sport England with the Clubmark status which guarantees standards around programme delivery and welfare of our young members.
The club has community amateur sports club (CASC) status rather than charity status. More on CASCs here.
It’s about a 1hr per week commitment and involves the following:
1. Maintain accounts spreadsheet in respect of income and outgoings. Reconcile against bank statements and complete annual report.
2. Complete requests for cheques and obtain second / countersignature where needed (for this reason the role is BRIGHTON-BASED).
3. Contact point for HSBC bank and statements.
4. Liaise with accountant to complete HMRC tax return
5. Attend committee meetings to update members on club finances and answer questions.
Different times can be busier if we are running events which bring in revenue and incur expenses, we usually run two race events per year, although nothing in 2020 due to Covid.
