Do you want to contribute to a better university experience for care leavers and estranged young people?
The Unite Foundation is a charity that provides a unique scholarship for care leavers and estranged young people who want to go to university. It funds accommodation in a Unite Students building for up to 3 years of study.
Our scholars don’t have family support, some of them have been in care, others have been living independently, or with friends or extended family, and some have been homeless. The scholarship takes care of a place for our students to live throughout their studies so that they can focus on embracing the full university experience and plan their future and, together with our university partners and supporters, we make sure that our students have opportunities to thrive at university and beyond.
The work of the Foundation has never been more important. We want to grow and better understand the significant difference our work brings to the lives of the young people we support/work with. We are at an important and exciting stage of our evolution with the development of a new strategy.
We are seeking additional trustees who share our passion and especially welcome applicants from diverse backgrounds and perspectives, in particular those with lived experience that relates to our main purpose.
If you have skills and experience, including but not limited to, one or more of the following areas:
· legal experience, ideally in charity law
· general financial management
· communications / PR experience
…we would love to hear from you.
We are also seeking a Treasurer.
All Trustees should have empathy for our work and be able to contribute to the achievement of our mission.
