Rhondda Hub for Veterans
The Rhondda Hub for Veterans is a Private Limited Company by Guarantee and currently in the process of becoming a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) with the Charity Commission.
The objective of our new CIO is to assist vulnerable veterans, ex- service personnel (and those in the criminal justice system) who have association with Wales access to sustainable housing locally and across the UK. We also work with partners on and off site to provide supplementary support services which include mentoring, employability skills training and employment opportunities to give this group every possible chance of successful transition to civilian life, reduce offending and into employment..
We are currently recruiting for a Chairperson that has board experience and the ability to relate to veteran’s experiences and challenges.
The role of the chairperson is to:
Ensure that the charity is governed in accordance with its constitution and the regulations (e.g. financial and other reporting, relations with the Charity Commission)
Chairing Trustee Meetings – held quarterly for 2-3 hours, ensuring minutes are taken & kept
Preside over discussions and decisions over strategy and broad policy guidelines (The day-to-day management will be in the hands of the chief executive/MD)
This role is based at the Hub in Tonypandy Wales however it is not a requirement to live locally on the basis you will travel to the site when required. The term of office of the Chair of Rhondda Hub for Veterans will be three years with the option to renew this for one further three-year period and is a voluntary role.
