About Survivors West Yorkshire

Survivors West Yorkshire (SWY) is a survivor led and focused service. Its vision is to support evidenced based services that are gender informed and accessible across West Yorkshire. Services which are user friendly and proactively involve survivors.

Our aim is to create a specialist service that connects survivors and their supporters to professional services using good practice standards. Our focus is on cloud based support offering off-line options if appropriate for the survivor.

Our objective is to innovatively support the self-empowerment of adult survivors of sexual violence- abuse by developing robustly evaluated psychological interventions.

As Chair you will be responsible for leading the board of trustees and help to ensure that the organisation achieves its charitable objectives, whilst abiding by its values and keeping within the law.

By joining the board at Survivors West Yorkshire you will be part of a growing organisation that provides invaluable support to survivors of sexual violence. Your involvement as a Trustee will help enable the organisation to meet the increasing demand for their services whilst ensuring there is robust governance in place.

In addition to providing your skills, all members of the board must be highly committed to the cause of the organisation and share the same vision in order to take the organisation forward.

This is a great opportunity for those who are passionate about helping survivors of sexual violence.

The Chair should have the following skills:

  • Leadership Skills.
  • Experience of committee work.
  • Tact and diplomacy.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Impartiality, fairness and the ability to respect confidences.
