Job Description

Wiltshire and Swindon Credit Union is looking for someone to oversee our office and manage HR issues, and also to ensure staff and volunteers have established training plans.

The HR and Training Director will have responsibility for the following areas of the business:

  • Oversight of our main office in Salisbury, managing HR issues
  • Ensuring training plans are established and followed for staff and volunteers (note that training material is available

It is expected that the HR and Training Director will visit the Salisbury office on a regular basis, maybe once or twice per month. A lot of work can be done remotely and communication is largely carried out by e-mail.  Board meetings take place on a monthly basis (evenings).

What are we looking for?

We have established a good management team, and we are looking for someone who can work as part of that team and contribute towards the future success of the credit union.  This is a small organisation run by volunteers, so directors are expected work actively in the role they take up.

We are looking for someone who has experience in HR management.  The position is suitable either for someone who is mid-career, looking to gain experience at board/executive level, or for someone who is retired or semi-retired.  What is most important is that they can understand the objectives of the credit union and have time available to contribute towards its future.

Wiltshire and Swindon Credit Union is a community organisation which operates on a not-for-profit basis. However, in order to achieve this, we need to operate as a robust business. The recruitment of people experienced in this field is vital to us achieving this.  We aim to help the thousands of people in our area who are financially disadvantaged inasmuch as they do not have full access to the mainstream banking system.

Time Commitment

It is expected that this position will require around 10 - 15 hours/month work.
