Job Description
TwentyTwenty is a small charity established in 2007 and provides accredited sexual health and positive relationship education to 300 girls aged 11-19 across 13 schools in Leicestershire and Derbyshire every year. Following the planned departure of the current Chair at the end of this year, the Board of Trustees is seeking to appoint a new Chair to lead and support the organisation to deliver its well-received Love4Life programmes and expand on its delivery provision.
The Chair of Trustees will have responsibility for governance, reviewing strategy and policies and ensuring the organisation’s resources are used strategically to achieve agreed results. The Chair will be expected to work in partnership with the Chief Executive and Board of Trustees to set the strategic direction of the organisation and ensure the financial health of the charity. We are a small team and although the Chair – as a trustee – does not have an operational role, we would like them to be involved as much as possible in the activities of the organisation in order to gain a good understanding of its work and impact on the community.
The time commitment is around 3-5 days per month. This will include attendance at quarterly board meetings, monthly 1:1s with the CEO, at least one strategy away day per year, and attendance at other meetings as necessary.
To uphold TwentyTwenty’s Christian ethos, board meetings will sometimes include a prayer. The organisation employs and supports people of all faiths and none, and welcomes all onto the Board of Trustees.
Who we're looking for
With experience of leading an organisation through a period of growth or significant experience of fundraising, your style will be collaborative and you will act as a critical friend when appropriate. You will need to be visible and work effectively with stakeholders as you will be an important ambassador for the charity and help the staff team to raise its profile and secure new funding to ensure the future of its educational and mentoring activities.
