Chair of the Trustee Board
|Job Title:||Chair of the Trustee Board|
|Salary:||0 - 0|

|Job Published:||April 02, 2020 15:14|
Four MIND charities in Northamptonshire are merging from June 2020 – Corby MIND; Northampton & District MIND; Rushden MIND; and Wellingborough MIND. On merger a new Board will come into existence that will be legally responsible for the new charity. The combined charity will be part of the National MIND Federation and its national organisation’s standards and quality mark. There has been strong collaboration between the four charities for a number of years and it is expected that the merger will enhance the services provided across Northamptonshire and open new opportunities for growth.
This new Chair will help lead the integration of the four Minds charities coming together. The Chair will support the Board, CEO and Senior Leadership Teams with the development and implementation of a new strategy.
An independent feasibility study recommended the new Board be composed of two Trustees from each of the four MINDS. It was also recommended that a new Chair should be recruited whose main task would be to support the Chief Executive and senior leadership team to meld the four charities into a single, new organisation.
A recruitment exercise is also taking place for a new CEO and it is expected that the new Chair will be in place in time to join the interview panel for shortlisted candidates.
This is an opportunity to lead a new organisation which will do much to improve the mental health of large areas of Northamptonshire which at present are not covered by the four existing Local Mind organisations that are merging. You will help to provide a wide range of services that are currently sparsely available in the rural areas and smaller towns of the County.
The prime aim of the new organisation is to maintain the excellent services, formerly delivered in their localities by the four merging local Minds, and to enable similar services to be delivered to the population in the more rural areas that currently do not have access to them.
What are we looking for?
- An experienced Vice-Chair or Chair: who will focus on strategy, risk and reputation; who will empower the executive to deliver the strategy, manage risk within agreed limits and enhance the reputation of MIND; who will get the most out of the trustees individually and collectively.
- Change management experience: of a major change to the structure of an organisation; of getting the best out of the new leadership team.
- Experience of the health commissioning environment in Northamptonshire.
- Experience of a successful merger.
- Knowledge of mental health provision in the UK.
- Knowledge of collaboration between corporates, charities and research units.
There are two phases: the first 6-12 months of integration, and the period thereafter when the organisation is expected to be operating in a steady state. When a steady state is reached the time commitment for the Chair is likely to amount to 1-2 days a month. The integration phase will require a slightly greater time commitment to focus the Board, CEO and SLT on the implementation of the new strategy. An estimate of 2-3 days a month has been made
