We’re looking for a new Chair of the Finance Committee

With more than 400,000 members and 110,000 volunteers, we are the largest charity dedicated to girls and young women in the UK. We’re now looking for a Chair of Finance Committee to support our growth, by overseeing our financial affairs on behalf of the trustees.

About the role

In this volunteer role, you’ll play a key role in advising the Board of Trustees on financial strategy and management issues relevant to the Girlguiding movement. You will oversee the financial affairs of the charity on behalf of the trustees and ensure that it complies with all the legal, constitutional and financial requirements and best practice.

The role includes:

  • Holding the title of Treasurer to reflect the Royal Charter.
  • Working in partnership with staff and trustees to ensure sound financial planning.

How much time do I need to give?

The appointment is for three years from 1 July 2019 and is eligible for reappointment for one further term.

You’ll attend four Board of Trustee and Finance Committee meetings each year, plus further relevant meetings. Our meetings are often held at weekends.

Who can apply?

You’ll be a Qualified Accountant with experience of finance strategy within the not-for-profit sector. You’ll also have experience of chairing well-managed and inclusive meetings, making sure all members’ views are heard.
