About us

Action West London (AWL) is a vibrant and expanding West London charity, Limited Company, and social enterprise. We have a long track record of working in partnership with statutory, voluntary, community and private sector agencies across West London. We are aiming to be a key strategic, service delivery and financially sustainable charity and social enterprise serving the Boroughs of Ealing, Hounslow, Hammersmith and Fulham, Brent, Harrow and Hillingdon.

Our key objectives are to help disadvantaged, unemployed individuals secure employmentimprove their education and training, and/or help them set up in self-employment. We’ve supported thousands of people across West London and are determined to continue providing our valuable, practical services to help many more.

The opportunity

Our long serving and highly respected Chair, Rod Cahill, will be retiring from the role in December 2018. Rod has been a key support over 20 years steering and expanding Action Acton into Action West London, a dynamic, enterprising charity and social enterprise.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced, committed individual interested in shaping the future strategic direction of this respected charity. We’re looking for someone committed to AWL’s Mission and Values, and who wants to expand life-changing opportunities for marginalised groups. The role needs someone with entrepreneurial flair, who has extensive networks, who can promote the charity’s work and who has the time to focus on strategy and delivery to build on our success.

The person we’re looking for

The AWL Chair will have the strategic vision, skills and experience to lead the Board and the organisation. He/she will have the drive and enthusiasm to take on the challenge of shaping AWL’s future over the next 3-5 years. The Chair’s immediate priority will be to lead a strategic review and explore opportunities for growth and resilience through considering various options.
