The PurpleDoor is a new theatre space opening in Liverpool, where all tickets will be free. We are proposing a truly revolutionary model of 'new' theatre, where there are no tickets, were all are welcome, and where art is tangibly and genuinely made with, by and for the local community. As part of this proposal, we will be structuring around a social investment and not-for-profit model. Artistic decisions will not be made by one Artistic Director but by a Community Board, who will guide and oversee the artistic and business vision for the theatre, to ensure it meets its aims, and continues to innovate and deliver real impact for working-class theatremakers and audiences.
We are now seeking applications for our board of trustees. We want to appoint people who wish to play an active and positive role in creating the change we need to see in the Theatre Industry. We are particularly keen to receive applications from people who may not traditionally see this role as being for them, to create a diverse and varied group representative of the people we work for. We see lockdown as an opportunity to break geographical boundaries, and invite applicants from across the UK with a vested interest in developing a better way of doing things. We are open to applicants from a range of backgrounds, but we are interested in hearing from people with experience in the following areas:
- Arts leadership / direction
- Community engagement and education
- Fundraising and financial management
Please find more info and apply on our website here. We will meet (virtually or in person) with all applicants for an informal chat.
