*Expiring 30 June 2021*
The Charity Tax Group (CTG) is looking to appoint up to two new Board Members.
Who are we?
CTG is the authoritative voice of charities on tax. Over the past 40 years CTG has saved the sector over £10 billion in tax. We work together to campaign for a better fiscal environment for the charities, provide authoritative information, improve understanding and secure a fair deal for charities on tax. Our networks include senior figures in HMRC, HMT and major charities.
Why should you get involved?
CTG gets things done. Our focus is on action and delivering results. We have a strong track record of policy success. This is only possible because of the commitment of our volunteer board members.
In a rapidly changing world CTG needs to change to equip itself for continued success in the future. Whilst continuing to influence Government effectively, we are determined to raise our profile with potential supporters and decision makers, diversify our funding base and develop our governance. To do this we need directors who share this vision and wish to rise to this challenge.
Who are we looking for?
CTG intends its Board to be diverse and fully representative of the broad range of charity members it represents. Previous board experience will be helpful, but is not essential.
We are especially interested in hearing from applicants who either have a strong background or interest in dealing with Charity VAT or who are Charity finance generalists who have an interest in charity tax.
Board members are required to represent a charity that makes a financial contribution towards CTG’s work.
What do CTG board members do?
The board sets out the strategic direction of CTG’s work programme and identifies key short and long-term goals. Board members also share their relevant technical expertise and are involved in delivering CTG’s work programme in association with the Secretariat and its Technical Adviser. The Board works to ensure CTG’s financial sustainability and aspires to best practice in its governance.
Board members automatically become a Director of the Charity Tax Group, which operates as a company limited by guarantee. Board members are volunteers.
What is the time commitment?
The Board meets monthly for one hour. Board Members can also participate in finance, fundraising and technical groups of their choosing. We use your skills and talents in the most effective way to maximise your contribution to CTG’s work.
Our meetings take place virtually (via Teams or Zoom). Occasional physical meetings in London are expected in future.
Successful applicants will be appointed for a three-year term.
How do I apply?
Please send a CV and a short covering e-mail/letter (maximum one-page) explaining your interest in the role to email@example.com by 30 June 2021. To discuss the roles in more detail please contact 02072221265. Informal interviews will then be held and appointments are expected to be made by 16 July 2021.
