Elizabeth Gaskell's House is a restored regency style historic House in Manchester, home to the Victorian author Elizabeth Gaskell and her family. Open three days a week to the public, and for private tours, room hires, events and weddings on other days. The Board of Trustees are looking for a volunter to assit the Accountant with the following tasks. Please note we wouldn't expect all these duties to be fulfilled immediately. We envisage that the role will involve about 7 hours work per week. Which can be split over 2 or 3 days if necessary.
To Maintenance of the books and records of two companies. Manchester Historic Buildings Trust Ltd and The Gaskells House Trading Ltd using the Quick Books cloud-based software and other software and techniques as appropriate.
In detail the tasks involved are: -
Maintenance of the sales ledger.
Maintenance of the purchase ledger.
Creating payments in CAF bank and HSBC and arranging for them to be 2nd authorized.
Maintenance of the nominal ledger.
Production of quarterly group VAT returns and submission of these electronically to HMRC.
MHBT, cash deposits, Memberships receipts, credit card receipts, grant income, rental income.
TGHT, sales ledger receipts, ticket source receipts, bankings.
MHBT cheques, standing orders, direct debits, net salaries.
TGHT cheques, bank charges.
Create sales invoices from Quick Books.
Enter purchase invoices.
Create and post journals for, salaries, intercompany receipts and payments, petty cash.
Maintain a spreadsheet summarizing monthly income from various sources; Tearoom, open day and tours, front of house, group tours, weddings etc.
Bank cash takings.
