RefugeeEd harnesses the skills of qualified teachers to strengthen the international refugee education community. We are seeking a trustee with finance/accounting experience.
What will you be doing?
As we continue to grow as a charity, we are always increasing our fundraising operations to establish a reliable income stream: applying for grants, organising events, and actively soliciting donations. As part of this process, we are recruiting for a Accounting and Finance Trustee to join our board.
Accounting and Finance Trustee. You will be responsible for implementing a clear and accurate system of accounting, overseeing financial management, and for filing the charity’s accounts. We are looking for a trustee with experience in accounting and/or finance. This opportunity will suit someone who is looking to take the lead in putting in place systems of accounting which ensure that refugeeEd remains accountable to donors, volunteers, and students.
As a trustee we also hope that you will participate in fundraising, promote the work of refugeeEd, and collectively ensure that the board exercises its responsibilities for the governance of the organisation. We are looking for trustees who want to use their experience to take a hands-on role in the work of the charity.
If you are passionate about improving the quality of education for refugees and want to be involved in growing a fresh new charity, we welcome your application. If you don’t meet the above criteria, but still want to be involved in another capacity, we would still love to hear from you.
Trustees will be expected to attend our monthly trustee meetings, either online or in person in London, and our AGM. The dates and times of these meetings are flexible, and will be arranged to suit the schedules of our trustees.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for a trustee with experience in accounting and/or finance
They will be enthusiastic, well-organised, and passionate about refugee education.
What difference will you make?
We are a small, growing charity, having been founded around two years ago. Our existing board has experience in education, fundraising, and in working with vulnerable people, and we're looking for a trustees to add a variety of skills and experience to our team. As we continue to solicit donations and apply for grants, we need assistance to ensure that we remain accountable to donors and that our finances are well-organised.
What's in it for the volunteer?
These are great opportunities for those looking to take organisational leadership. They will suit anyone who has gained experience as part of a team and would now like the chance to take the initiative and to have significant ownership over a project. You'd be the lead on accounts, and so would have significant autonomy and responsibility within your area. It's also a really important cause; although the refugee crisis is no longer in the news, the situation has not improved. Tens of thousands remain stuck in camps, and many more people are arriving every day. We hope that refugeeEd can play some role in enabling these people to gain skills and education.
