Job Description

Are you passionate about young peoples futures, youth work and the next generation?

Do you want to help change the lives of young people?

Are you a qualified accountant with financial management experience? (Ideally within Charities but not essential)

Then think about applying to join our Board of Trustees at Eastside Youth as our Treasurer.

Eastside Youth is a new youth work charity based in East London aiming to change the lives of young people and has been set up in response to the massive and severe funding cuts and closures of youth services across East London, leaving young people with lack of services and feeling isolated in a time where young people already feel segregated from society with no real voice.

#YouthWorkChangesLives and at Eastside Youth we aim to facilitate that change by giving young people aged 11 to 25 years old based in East London the tools and skills to lead active and independent lives by providing interactive and engaging structured youth activities, training opportunities and support that will help improve their physical, mental, emotional, social and educational well-being.

We are currently seeking to recruit a Treasurer to join our existing Board. This is an excellent opportunity to be actively involved in supporting and overseeing the growth of our new, young and dynamic charity, and to contribute at Board level to the strategic direction, governance and decisions of the charity, especially in leading on financial management and controls.

The Treasurer will be involved in dealing with both the Charity Commission, HMRC and the Bank, create financial reports and documents for all three, including our board and also have the opportunity to get involved in the broader Trustee work.

We are looking for a knowledgeable, passionate, solution focused, positive and committed person who is keen to make a difference. We want a hands-on Treasurer who has the time to actively make a difference to the growth of the charity.

The Treasurer is required to commit to a minimum term of 1 year, and to attend Board Meetings in East London on a monthly basis. Meetings are usually held in evenings and occasional weekends in line with our core service hours.

To apply email us your CV and we will get in touch with further info and a short application form.
