The Combe Down Stone Legacy Trust is a charity and a Company limited by guarantee.
It runs the Museum of Bath Stone, a museum dedicated to preserving and displaying the heritage that the stone of Combe Down created. The museum has started the application process to become an Arts Council Accredited Museum so it will be an exciting year!
The stone from the mines and quarries of Combe Down built most of Bath and has also been used as far afield as Cape Town in South Africa.
The museum preserves and displays the history of the stone from its geological formation to its subsequent use. The historic and cultural significance of Combe Down is covered as well as the influence of the stone on its development.
Our aim is to provide a stimulating environment, accessible and understandable to all ages and levels of education, where all aspects of this heritage can be explored and studied.
This post would suit someone with an interest in the heritage of the area who has had experience of working in the charity sector and/or as a trustee. Legal experience would also be an advantage.
