Volunteer tax adviser required for work in prison
RIFT Social Enterprise is due to commence work in a number of prisons across the UK, offering advice to prisoners regarding their tax affairs, including tax refunds, tax returns, accrual of penalties from HMRC and information pertaining to becoming self-employed upon release.
We are looking to build a bank of volunteers who are willing to go into a prison within 40 miles of their home address for at least one day per month and meet with up to ten prisoners on that day. Paperwork pertaining to their needs will be completed and posted back to RIFT Social Enterprise who will commence the work.
The volunteer simply needs to go into the prison, meet the men and gather information. The actual work involved in processing a claim will be done by the RIFT staff.
If you have experience in tax advice and are looking for something a little different to do on a pro-bono basis, do get in touch. Full briefing/training/direction will be given in advance of any volunteering starting. You will be subject to vetting via the prison service. Mileage and meals will be reimbursed.
