ReCOM is a small registered charity which provides IT training to help unemployed people who are looking for work, as well as helping others in the Solihull/Birmingham area gain greater independence by developing digital skills and accessing the internet. It also offers affordable, refurbished computers to voluntary organisations and individuals in need.
Each year we make a difference to around 500 local people. We currently employ three staff part-time and several sessional trainers. We also have a team of over 40 volunteers. Our range of activities has grown steadily over the last ten years and we continue to adjust our offering to suit the needs of our customers often arising from changing government agendas and evolving technology.
As Treasurer, you will be responsible for advising the Trustees on all financial matters as well as the preparation of management and statutory accounts. We are therefore looking for someone with the relevant financial skills and experience to be able to perform all functional activities whilst also enjoying the opportunity to contribute to the wider strategic development of the charity.
The role will require attendance of at least 6 Board meetings per year (currently held in the Solihull area, during weekday afternoons, with an average duration of 2 hours). There is also a substantial time commitment beyond the Board meetings – of between one day per month and one day per week, including some time working from the ReCOM office.
Our web site www.recom.org.uk has lots more information about our activities.
