Pro-Bono Accountant / Trustee Board Member

The World Youth Organization (WYO) advances education and provides opportunities for every young person to fulfill their potential. Together with our partners, we work in the UK and abroad to translate that commitment into practical action, focusing special effort on reaching the most vulnerable and excluded young people, to the benefit of all youth, everywhere.


About the Role

If you have a keen eye for numbers and meticulous in your way of working, we’re looking for someone who can help us ensure our organisation’s finances are all in check and in good order as we publish our upcoming annual report. This role is currently aimed only at this piece of work, but there may be other opportunities in the future to help us keep our finances strong and healthy.


We are publishing our first public accounts for FY 6/17 and would like someone suitable qualified to help compile the relevant documents in line with SORP requirements of a CIO. We have opted for non-accruals based accounting to make the process simpler.


We will shortly be recruiting a treasurer/finance trustee to sit on the board of WYO.


What are we looking for?


Likes working with numbers and proven ability to provide accurate figures.


Can volunteer for up to 5-10 hours to complete this task.


A can-do and professional work attitude


Understands SORP requirements for CIOs or willing to learn




  • Is a member of a chartered accountancy or finance body


    Has compiled charity accounts previously

Ensure all relevant and essential information is provided


Support from trustees and CEO of the charity


Acknowledgement within the final annual report


Reasonable travel expenses, if required
