We are currently seeking a new External Governor and are particularly interested in hearing from people with current or recent accountancy, finance or business experience.  A relevant qualification in accountancy or a related subject is desirable but candidates with wider business experience, but who are not qualified accountants, are still encouraged to apply.

Governors are collectively responsible for setting the strategic direction of the College and its activities Governors are required to commit to six Corporation meetings and one or two Strategy meetings each year and most are also members of one of our sub-committees which meet up to three times a year.  Meetings are normally held on Monday evenings.

Being a Governor is a very rewarding role and, apart from the satisfaction of making a real contribution to the College, many individuals find the experience of working as a Governor enhances their own personal and professional skills. New Governors follow an induction and mentoring programme and on-going training is provided to enable all members to develop their contribution.

You can find out more about the work of the Corporation, and our existing Governors, who  come from a wide range of professional backgrounds, by looking at the “Corporation” section on the College’s website:  http://www.cirencester.ac.uk/corporation/ and, from their “personal profiles” learn about their motivation for becoming Governors and what they feel they have gained from taking on this role.
