Background

We are Beams is a well established local charity which provides support services to disabled children and their families in Kent.

The charities services are divided up into four key areas: Short Break Service for Disabled Children, Family Advice Service, Direct Payments Service and Dragon’s Retreat Short Break Unit.

The children and young people who access our services will typically have one or multiple learning difficulties, complex health needs, physical or sensory impairment, challenging behaviour, Autism or severe ADHD.

In any one week we support at least 350 children and families.

This year we need to raise £1.4 million in order to continue offering our services to those that need them.

We have recently completed a Big Lottery funded Operational Strength Review which highlighted that we should seek to strengthen our board of trustees to help secure our finances for the next stage of the charities development.

After 20 years offering a service to disabled children and families, we recently re-branded the charity to We are Beams on 1st April to also help us to win support from both the business and local community.

The Opportunity

We are excited to announce that we are currently seeking new Trustees to join our board. This opportunity is open to anyone who shares our vision  that We are Beams  will be a leader in transforming the lives of disabled children, young people and their families, so enabling greater independence and control of their lives and futures.

This is a great opportunity to join our board of Trustees to provide experience and perspective on our activities as we develop our services, and to help shape the future strategy of the charity
