The overall role of the Human Resources Director is to:

  • provide advice on staff employment, remuneration and welfare
  • ensure compliance with legislation and Home-Start policies connected to staff and volunteers
  • act as chair for the Personnel sub-committee

The Human Resources Director serves as a member of the Board of Trustees with responsibility as follows, with the support of the Personnel committee

  • Advise the trustees on the staffing structure of the Scheme and any changes in staffing requirements
  • Ensure the continued application of good employee relations, procedures and practices including equal opportunities
  • Act, if required, as an appeal body to any employment dispute involving an employee of the Scheme
  • Ensure the adoption of good recruitment and selection practices
  • Make recommendations for policies or arrangements which reflect changes in personnel practice, legislative changes, reviews of existing arrangements
  • Produce (annual) reports and updates on human resource strategy, for example training and development.
