Honorary Treasurer, TheGuild of the Royal Hospital of St. Bartholomew
The Guild of St Bartholomew’s Hospital supports Barts’ patients, their relatives and staff by running a general and souvenir shop, a ward trolley service and making financial grants. Our activities complement the work of the Barts Health NHS Trust in assisting patients’ comfort and help. Founded nearly 900 years ago Barts remains the only hospital, probably in the world, to have provided continuous care from its original site. Today it is an internationally renowned hospital for cardiac and cancer patients. HRH The Duke of Gloucester is Patron of our charity. The Hon Treasurer responsibility would suit especially someone retired or semi-retired who would enjoy working with a prestigious charity which intends to increase its membership and grants-giving. The new Treasurer will have considerable scope to organise work in the best way he or she considers. An accountancy background is very desirable but, whatever background, experience and confidence in handling accounts and overseeing expenditure and income are essential. While the Hon Treasurer will have overall responsibility for the Accounts book-keeping support will be available from a designated book-keeper.
Our Trustees have a wide range of expertise and value the harmonious spirit of working together that is a Guild hallmark. The new Hon Treasurer can expect to be welcomed in that spirit and to contribute to it.
The current Treasurer estimates a commitment to be around nine hours a month on average on role related tasks.
