Small Charity Finance Mentor
Job title: Small Charity Finance Supporter/Mentor
Hours: Flexible to suit the supporter
Location: Flexible - can support remotely or in person
Small Charities Coalition supports small charities, registered or not, that have an income of less than £1m per year. We provide a voice for small charities, and give them access to free and affordable support such as skills, training and resources. By collaborating with individuals and organisations from all sectors, we provide opportunities for sharing learning, building capacity and saving money.
Our free skills mentoring service pairs small charities with individuals that can guide them through a particular need or challenge. Supporters work with a member of the charity to give advice and guidance on a particular area of setting up or running a charity.
We are looking for finance supporters to share their knowledge and expertise with small charities who have limited finance and accounting experience, skills and resources. The role is extremely flexible, with the supporter having control over what and when they are able to help and whether the support is done remotely or face-to-face. How it works
- Volunteer supporters work 1-2-1 with a trustee, staff or volunteer from a small charity to help them build their skills and confidence.
- Rather than doing the hands-on work for the charity, volunteer supporters mentor, advise and guide the charity in a specific area of their work e.g. business planning, finance or HR.
- Matches could simply be a one-off phone call or continue for a couple of years. They can be remote or face-to-face and are flexible to meet both the charity and the supporter's needs.
